The Cal Poly Mustangs welcome Big West foe the Long Beach State 49ers to town.
The Long Beach State 49ers are one of the few Big West teams that have some national exposure because of their tough non conference schedule. The 49ers fell to 2-1 in the league after a 58-54 loss to preseason favorite UC Irvine on Thursday as a poor second half that wasted an eight point lead. The defense was outstanding with the Anteaters hitting at less then 33% but the offense connected on 14-57 shots (24.6%). Nick Faust led the attack with a game high 19points and eleven rebounds on 4-14 shooting with Gabe Levin and Justin Bibbins tossing in eight points apiece and grabbing ten boards between them.

The Cal Poly Mustangs have become a score first squad that is outscored 76-75 which means there is very little room for error. The Mustangs dropped to 0-2 in the Big West following a 76-73 loss to Santa Barbara and have lost six of seven overall. The Gauchos were up five at the half and simply made shots when they needed to at over 45% including 11-19 from distance. The Mustangs sank shots at just under 43% but a 4-15 effort on threes and 13-21 at the stripe cost them a win. Cal Polyreceived 16 points and nine rebounds from David Nwaba with Brian Bennett adding 13 points and six pulls. Josh Martin netted 12 points while Luke Meikle chipped in with eight points.
The over is 10-1 in LBSU last 11 road games and is 10-1 in their last 11 Saturday games while the 49ers are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 road games. Cal Poly are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 Saturday games and the under is 5-2-1 in their last 8 vs. Big West. The road team is 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings. I don’t see this being a night and day match up so I’ll take the points…
