The Charleston Cougars host the Elon Phoenix in a Colonial tilt on Saturday.
The Elon Phoenix are in need of a winning streak to get themselves back in the CAA mix. The Phoenix fell to 2-3 in the conference after Thursday’s 91-82 loss to visiting North Carolina-Wilmington as a four point home dog. The defensive end of the floor struggled with the Seahawks connecting at almost 56% including 11-24 effort from beyond the arc. The Phoenix hit at 47% and remained competitive with a 20-12 edge at the stripe. Luke Eddy was option number one for Elon with 21 points on 8-13 with Dainan Swoope next in line with 15 points. Chris Hairston added 14 points and ten rebounds while Tyler Seibring and Steve Santa Ana scoring eleven points apiece with Santa Ana grabbing nine boards.

The Charleston Cougars are in the same boat as their counterparts as a 2-3 start to the conference schedule have them trailing in the standings. The Cougars lost to William & Mary at home as a spirited rally from 15down fell a basket short. The numbers say the Tribe won easily with a 48%-32% shooting advantage but CofC grabbed 19 offensive rebounds to total 18 more looks at the basket to almost steal a win. Charleston received 19 points and six boards from Cameron Johnson on 6-12 with Evan Bailey tossing in 16 points on only 4-14 from the field. Three others scored between 6-7 points but the team could not find the shooting touch.
Elon are 17-8 ATS in their last 25 road games. Charleston are 4-22 ATS in their last 26 Saturday games and are 16-36-2 ATS in their last 54 home games. Neither team covers spreads so take this for what it’s worth…
