The IUPU-Ft. Wayne Mastodons have been one of the top teams in the Summit heading in to their showdown with the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. When the smoke cleared the Mastodons didn’t look so tough in a 92-76 rout. The Jackrabbits dominated the second half 53-38 behind nearly 52% accuracy while the Mastodons connected at less then 35% which was a difference of eleven field goals. Max Landis gave Ft. Wayne 23 points, five yanks and five assists with Jon Konchar adding 22 points and 13 rebounds. Joe Reed and Michael Calder combined for 20 points but the rest of the team mustered a mere eleven points.

The Nebraska Omaha Mavericks might be a bit of a surprise at 12-6 with their high octane offense leading the way at 85 points. The streaking Mavericks have won six in a row capped off by a 79-73 victory at South Dakota with a 53-35 second half run erasing a 12 point deficit. Both teams sank shots in the 47%-48% range with the Coyotes totaling eleven more shots and eleven more baskets. The Mavericks won because they turned 25 SD personals in to a huge 29-3 advantage at the stripe. Tra-Deon Hollins led all scorers with 17 points, five yanks and eight assists with Devin Patterson right on his heels with 16 points. Jake White added 15 points and six boards with Tre’Shawn Thurman and Randy Reed combining for 21 points.
