The Seton Hall Pirates travel to Big East rival the Providence Friars Saturday afternoon.
The Big East currently have eight teams with at least eleven victories and the Seton Hall Pirates are one of them at 12-6.The Pirates outscore opponents 73-65 and need both ends of the floor to play well to succeed in the conference. SH had won seven straight before suffering back to back losses after an 82-67 loss to visiting Creighton with the Bluejays holding an eight point edge after 20 minutes and keeping the pressure on until the final buzzer. The BlueJays had a slight 45%-42% shooting edge and seven more looks which were turned in to five more baskets. Khadeem Carrington led a trio of double digit scorers with 17 points with Derrick Gordon dropping 14 points. Isaiah Whitehead scored ten points while Angel Delgado and Desi Rodriguez chipped in with eight points.

The Providence Friars appear to be one of the better teams in the Big East at 15-2 but we’ll know if that’s true once conference play gets hot and heavy. The Friars bounce back from their second loss with a tough 50-48 win at Creighton as a 2.5 point underdog. The Bluejays were up seven heading to the locker room before Providence staged a second half rally. Creighton sank shots at less then 26% and the Friars checked in at 29.6% but connected on five more free throws which was decisive. Providence received a game high 20 points and eight pulls from Kris Dunn with Brent Bentil adding 13 points and nine boards. The offense shot a season low and it was either good defense or poor shooting to blame.
The under is 10-3 in Seton Hall last 13 overall and the Pirates are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 Saturday games while going 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 vs. Big East. The over is 16-5 in Providence last 21 Saturday games and is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in Providence. I’ll take the points for now until the total comes out…
