The Drake Bulldogs lost their 6th straight game and dropped to 5-13 (0-6 MVC) on the season after being defeated by the Southern Illinois Salukis, 81-76, this past Sunday. Drake was able to overcome an 11-point halftime deficit to take a lead in the 2nd half but was held scoreless for over five minutes late in the 2nd half and couldn’t get their first MVC victory. Drake shot 52.8% from the field and 40.9% (9-22) from beyond the arc in the loss. The Bulldogs allowed the Salukis to shoot 51.7% from the field and loss the turnover battle by a 13-7 margin. Leading the way for Drake was Reed Timmer who had 27 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, and 2 steals. On the season, the Bulldogs have been led by Reed Timmer (17.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.5 apg), Kale Abrahamson (13.8 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.2 apg), and Graham Woodward (11.6 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 3.0 apg). Offensviely, Drake is averaging 69.7 ppg on 46.5% shooting from the field and 41.2% shooting from beyond the arc. The Bears are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight up win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400. The Bulldogs are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games.
Missouri State might be just 7-11 on the season but they’ve won three of their last four including solid conference wins against UNI at home and Loyola (CHI) on the road. Drake has lost 10 of their last 11 games and although they do shoot the ball well from outside, their defense and turnovers has continued to prevent them to pick up wins. Drake has had a tough conference schedule to date (Wichita St, Evansville, UNI) and as Missouri State does a pretty bad job defending the three (ranked 315th in the country) , I think Drake will keep this one close and cover in this one on their home court. Take Drake to cover.
