The Georgia Southern Eagles look for a conference road win versus the Appalachian State Mountaineers.
The Georgia Southern Eagles need to win some games if they hope to climb to the top half of the Sun Belt. That has yet to happen with the Eagles falling to 2-5 in league play after a 69-66, overtime defeat at Georgia State as an eleven point underdog. Georgia Southern struggled with 35% shooting with the Panthers hitting at almost 42% with six more makes at the stripe. Ike Smith paced the Eagles with a game high 23 points and nine rebounds with Mike Hughes scoring 16 points. Jake Allsmiller and Tookie Brown combined for 21 points but production outside of the top four was scarce.
USA TODAY Sports
The Appalachian State Mountaineers need wins as much as their counterparts and have been picking up a few lately. The Mountaineers were an afterthought until the past few weeks where they have won three of four following a 76-67 decision over Georgia State on Thursday as a 4.5 point home dog. ASU jumped to a 16 point lead in the first half and survived a Panthers rally that featured 42% marksmanship and six more shots with 43% accuracy and 12 bombs of their own. Frank Eaves poured in a game high 25 points with Ronshad Shabazz next in line with 20 points. Chris Burgess added 12 points and seven helpers while Jacob Lawson contributed seven points and seven rebounds.
The over is 8-3 in Georgia Southern last 11 overall and Georgia Southern are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. Appalachian State are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games and are 36-17-1 ATS in their last 54 Monday games. I don’t like giving away points here but the Mountaineers have been at their best lately…
