The Milwaukee Panthers had their two game winning streak snapped and dropped to 14-7 (5-3 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, 82-79, this past Monday. Milwaukee was able to cut the Oakland lead to a 75-73 margin with just over two minutes left to play but allowed the Golden Grizzlies to go on a 5-0 run and couldn’t recover for the win. Milwaukee shot just 40.0% from the field and 29.4% (10-34) from beyond the arc. The Panthers allowed the Golden Grizzlies to shoot 64.7 (11-17) from beyond the arc and outrebounded Oakland by a 42-33 margin. Leading the way for Milwaukee was Jordan Johnson who had 20 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, and a steal. On the season, the Panthers have been led by Matt Tiby (14.7 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 2.2 apg), Akeem Springs (14.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.6 apg), Jordan Johnson (12.3 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 8.0 apg). Offensively, Milwaukee is averaging 78.4 ppg on 45.9% shooting from the field and 35.5% shooting from beyond the arc. The Panthers average 9.0 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.55. Defensively, Milwaukee is allowing their opponents to average 71.1 ppg on 44.8% shooting. The Panthers have a rebound margin of 1.7 and average 4.5 steals per game.
The Phoenix are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win however, just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Panthers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a ATS loss.
Green Bay has played at a much faster tempo this season and although they rank 2nd in the country in scoring offense, they rank 332nd in scoring defense. Milwaukee doesn’t have much depth on their team as they have four players averaging more than 30.0 minutes/game but the Panthers starting five is very solid on both sides of the ball. Green Bay can certainly put the ball in the basket however, has allowed their opponents to average 109.5 ppg over their last two games and I just don’t think they’ll be able to get enough stops on the road against the Panthers to cover with the points in this one. I’m taking Milwaukee to cover.
