Elon was to use a 12-1 run late in the 2nd half to take a 64-63 lead with just over a minute left to play, however, couldn’t stop Juan’ya Green in the closing seconds and allowed the senior guard to hit the game winning shot with just 2.1 seconds left to play. Hofstra shot 44.6% from the field and just 26.3% (5-19) from beyond the arc in the victory. The Pride held the Phoenix to 40.6% shooting from the field and 23.3% shooting from three-point range. The Drexel Dragons lost their 5th straight game and dripped to 3-17 (1-8 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the Towson Tigers, 77-70, this past Thursday. Drexel had the lead for the majority of the 2nd half but allowed the Tigers to go on 13-2 run late in the game which gave the Tigers a 72-66 lead with just under two minutes left to play in which Drexel couldn’t comeback from. Drexel was impressive offensively as they shot 55.6% from the field and 63.6% (7-11) from beyond the arc. The Dragons allowed the Tigers to shoot 50.0% from the field and was outrebounded by Towson by a 29-18 margin. Leading the way for Drexel was Terrell Allen who had 12 points, 7 assists, 2 rebounds, and a steal. On the season, the Dragons have been led by Tavon Allen (12.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.2 apg), Terrell Allen (10.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 3.3 apg, 2.1 spg), and Sammy Mojica (9.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.0 apg). Offensively, Drexel is averaging 63.7 ppg on 38.8% shooting from the field and 32.4% from beyond the arc. The Dragons average 5.0 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 0.96. Defensively, Drexel is allowing their opponents to average 71.3 ppg on 45.3% shooting. The Dragons average 3.9 blocks per game and have a turnover margin of 0.7.
The Pride are 4-0-3 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a losing record and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Dragons are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games however, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss.
Hofstra almost let a winnable game get away from them against Elon but was able to pull out the victory and remain as one of the teams to beat in the CAA. Drexel long season continues as although the Dragons had their best offensive night of the season against Towson, they still were unable to come away with a victory. Hofstra has been getting great production out of Rokas Gustys as of late and as I just don’t see the Dragons being able to shoot like they did against Hofstra, I think the Pride will be able to get an easy victory on the road in this one. Take Hofstra to cover.
