The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets dropped to 12-9 (2-6 ACC) on the season after being defeated by the Syracuse Orange, 60-57, this past Saturday. Georgia Tech battled hard on the road against the Orange but couldn’t come up with enough offense in the 2nd half to get the much needed conference win. Georgia Tech shot 37.5% from the field and 37.8% (5-18) from beyond the arc. The Yellow Jackets allowed the Orange to shoot 42.0% from the field and outrebounded Syracuse by a 40-35 margin. Leading the way for Georgia Tech was Ben Lammers who had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist. On the season, the Yellow Jackets have been led by Marcus Georges-Hunt (15.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.4 apg), Adam Smith (14.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.9 apg), and Charles Mitchell (11.3 ppg, 10.7 rpg). Offensviely, Georgia Tech is averaging 76.0 ppg on 44.5% shooting from the field and 36.5% shooting from beyond the arc. The Yellow Jackets average 6.3 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.40. Defensively, Georgia Tech is allowing their opponents to average 71.4 ppg on 43.5% shooting. The Yellow Jackets average 4.5 blocks per game and have a rebound margin of 8.0.
The Blue Devils are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games following a ATS loss and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 Tuesday games. The Yellow Jackets are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 vs. ACC opponents.
Although we knew that losing Amile Jefferson would be a huge blow for the Blue Devils, I don’t think anyone expected to see Duke lose four of their last five games and dropped completely from the rankings. Georgia Tech might only have two conference wins but have been competitive at home, which includes a victory over Virginia and a close loss against Louisville. Duke should be well rested for this one which will help considering their lack of depth, however, Georgia Tech has the size to control the paint in this one with Amile Jefferson being out and I think the Yellow Jackets keep this one close enough to cover with the points. Take Georgia Tech and the points.
