The Idaho Vandals look to right the ship with a win at the Southern Utah Thunderbirds.
The defensive minded Idaho Vandals are fighting to hold their position in the top four of the Big Sky. The Vandals prevented a three game slide with a 56-55 victory over Portland State as a two point home favorite. Neither team shot the ball well with both connecting at around 35% with Vandals mustering ten more shots and four more field goals to overcome seven more Vikings free throws. Nate Sherwood was Idaho’s lone double digit scorer with 15 points and eight boards with Chad Sherwood scoring nine. Ty Egbert chipped in with eight points while Chris Sarbaugh added six points, nine rebounds and six assists.

The Southern Utah Thunderbirds struggled early last season before coming on strong and they need a repeat of that effort after losing seven of eight. The Thunderbirds come off of a 77-50 loss at Weber State as an 18.5 point underdog on Saturday. The Wildcats sank shots at 46% but it was the Thunderbirds 31% marksmanship that cost them with Weber owning a +16 on the backboards as well. Casey Oliverson was the only SUU player to reach double figures in the scoring column with ten points. No other player managed more then seven points as Southern Utah struggled to find the shooting touch.
The under is 16-5 in Idaho last 21 overall and Idaho are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 road games. Southern Utah are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games overall and the over is 19-7 in their last 26 home games while the over is 21-8 in the Thunderbirds last 29 Thursday games. I think Idaho has to have this game and the numbers agree…
