The high powered Citadel Bulldogs shoot for a road win versus the Mercer Bears.
The name of the game for the Citadel Bulldogs is to score a ton of points and hope it’s enough as they average a nation’s best 89 points. The downside is opponents average 93 points so defense is not a strength. The Bulldogs have lost three of four after a 125-85 defeat at Chattanooga on Monday. The Mocs found themselves up 15 at the half and really poured it on with a 77 point explosion over the final 20 minutes. The bottom line was the Mocs owned a 55%-37% shooting advantage and sank 26morefree throws. The Citadel received 19 points from Brian White while Connor Schroeder and Derrick Henry scored ten points apiece.

The Mercer Bears are a top four team in the SoCon with the ability to score and defend and that has served them well in winning three in a row. The Bears are coming off of an 85-70 at Samford where a ten point lead at the break continued to grow over the final 20 minutes. The Bulldogs shot the ball well enough at 49% but Mercer simply didn’t miss at 58% which added up to five more field goals and was decisive. Jestin Lewis poured in a contest best 26 points for Mercer with Stphon Jelks adding 20 points and 12 rebounds. Jordan Strawberry netted 14 points while the Bears emptied the bench and had more then enough scoring.
The over is 30-10 in Citadel last 40 overall and is 10-4 in their last 14 Saturday games while going 38-18 in Citadel last 56 vs. Southern. The over is 7-2 in Mercer last 9 overall and is 7-2 in their last 9 vs. Southern. I probably like the over or the Mercer team total over but for now I’ll side with the Bears…
