The Southern Illinois Salukis lost their third straight game and dropped to 18-6 (7-4 MVC) on the season after being defeated by the 21st ranked Wichita State Shockers, 76-55, this past Wednesday. Southern Illinois had no answers on the offense end against the strong Wichita State defense and was never really in the game after the Shockers made it a double-digit game late in the 1st half. Southern Illinois shot just 30.6% from the field and 26.1% (6-23) from beyond the arc. The Salukis allowed the Shockers to shoot 48.1% shooting from the field and committed 22 turnovers in the loss. The Salukis average 7.2 steals per game and have a turnover margin of 1.9.
The Ramblers are 14-4 ATS in their last 18 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games overall. The Salukis are 19-40-3 ATS in their last 62 games following a straight up loss and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games.
Loyola (CHI) continues to have a difficult year as the Ramblers, who many though would be one of the better MVC teams this season, continue to have trouble finding enough offense to win games. Southern Illinois has been a pleasant surprise in the MVC this season but has yet to show they can contend with the heavyweights of the division as they are just 1-4 against Wichita State, Evansville, and Northern Iowa. Southern Illinois is a solid team however, they can have trouble scoring the ball and I think the Ramblers will be able do just enough to stay within this large point spread on the road. Take Loyola (CHI) and the points.
