The Furman Paladins host the North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans looking for the season split.
I always say the North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans can be tough with their talent but I also say they often come up short in the win column. We saw both in Saturday’s 68-65 defeat to visiting East Tennessee State where UNCG could not maintain a late lead. Both teams combined to go 20-30 from long range but the 50% accuracy of the Buccaneers added up to six more field goals versus the 41.7% shooting Spartans. Francis Alonso tossed in a game high 16 points with Demetrius Troy adding 14 points and five steals on 5-9. Kayel Locke netted 13 points and snagged six boards while RJ White hauled in eleven rebounds to go along with six points.

At 11-14 the Samford Bulldogs need to get above .500 in order to reach any postseason tournament. The Bulldogs problem is conference play has hurt them greatly with six consecutive defeats. The Bulldogs are looking to rebound from a 78-75 loss to visiting Wofford where 50% shooting fell to 44% shooting because of shot selection. The Terriers sank six more threes and three more free throws to down the Bulldogs who shot two’s well but were just 4-15 on threes. Samford received a game high 21 points, six pulls and six assists from Darius Jones-Gibson with 19 points and six helpers coming from Christen Cunningham. Wyatt Walker followed with 17 points while Iman Johnson and Marcus Johnson combining for 15 points.
The over is 9-3 in UNCG last 12 overall and is 8-3 in their last 11 vs. Southern. Furman are 3-14 ATS in the last 17 home games. Furman could roll here but I expect a bit more competitive game and will take the points…
