The Saint Peter’s Peacocks look to tighten their grip on 4th in the MAAC with a win versus the Niagara Purple Eagles.
I do believe the Niagara Purple Eagles have improved numbers but they are just above the conference cellar so there is more room to improve. The Purple Eagles have really been struggling with losses in seven of eight after a 75-61 defeat to visiting Iona as a 10.5 point home dog where the Gaels jumped out to a 20 point lead and never looked back. Niagara held a 39%-36% shooting edge but the Gaels sank six more threes and six more free throws. Justin Satchell was the Purple Eagles best player with 16 points and ten rebounds on 7-13 with Emile Blackman netting 12. Matt Scott added eleven points and nine boards while Marvin Prochet chipped in with eight points and seven pulls.

SPC was up six at the break and slowly pulled away with the Bobcats held to a mere 29% from the floor which made their own 43% marksmanship and seven more free throws an easy winner. Antwon Portley poured in a game high 25 points on 7-15 with Chazz Patterson and Quadir Welton combining for 21 points with Welton hauling in 14 rebounds. Three others contributed 6-8 points to provide some balance.
The under is 38-17 in Saint Peter’s last 55 Friday games while the Peacocks are 16-33-1 ATS in their last 50 home games. The under is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings at Saint Peter’s. For whatever reason Niagara gives the Peacocks a battle so I look to the points with both teams struggling…
