The Northern Illinois Huskies look to cool down the surging Akron Zips in MAC action.
The Akron Zips have been one of the top teams in the MAC for a number of years and at 20-4 this season is no different. The surging Zips have won seven in a row following an 83-68 victory at Bowling Green Tuesday as a four point favorite. Akron took a nine point lead in to the locker room and never let up despite both teams sinking shots in the 48%-49% range. The difference was the Zips 16-32 performance from beyond the arc. Akron received 20 points from Antino Jackson on 7-13 with Isaiah Johnson and Reggie McAdams scoring 15 points apiece. Pat Forsythe and Noah Robotham combined for 19 points in a balanced attack that saw eight players score.

The Northern Illinois Huskies were one of the best teams in the MAC West a few short weeks ago but now they need a change in momentum. The Huskies have dropped five straight to fall to 4th in the division. NIU is coming off of a 75-74 defeat at Kent State as a four point underdog where both teams made shots at 45%. The Golden Flashes posted a few more field goals and the Huskies totaled small advantages in threes and at the foul line. Jaylen Key led all scorers with 22 points and five yanks on 7-14 with Marin Maric adding 14 points and ten rebounds. Travon Baker followed with 12 points and seven helpers while Marshawn Wilson chipped in with nine points.
Akron are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 Saturday games and are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 road games. Northern Illinois are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games and the over is 16-5 in their last 21 vs. Mid-American while going 17-8 in their last 25 home games. The over is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings and the home team is 6-2-1 ATS in the last 9 meetings. The home team has dominated this match up but I’m really waiting for the total…
