UMass was able to fight back from a 43-33 halftime deficit to force the OT and scored an impressive 25 points in the OT period to secure the win. The Fordham Rams lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 12-11 (3-9 A-10) on the season after being defeated by the Richmond Spiders, 71-67, this past Saturday. Fordham held a 30-26 halftime lead however, allowed the Spiders to go on an 18-5 run late in the 2nd half to take a 68-64 lead and couldn’t come back for the victory. Fordham struggled on the offensive end as they shot 35.0% shooting from the field and 27.6% (8-29) from beyond the arc. The Rams allowed the Spiders to shoot 53.3% from the field and outrebounded Richmond by a 40-28 margin. Leading the way for Fordham was Ryan Rhoomes who had a double-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, and a block. On the season, the Rams have been led by Ryan Rhoomes (14.3 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.8 bpg), Mandell Thomas (14.1 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.3 apg, 2.5 spg), and Joseph Chartouny (9.9 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 5.4 apg, 2.1 spg). Offensively, Fordham is averaging 71.8 ppg on 44.8% shooting from the field and 34.6% shooting from beyond the arc. The Rams average 7.7 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.11. Defensively, Fordham is holding their opponents to average 68.8 ppg on 44.3% shooting. The Rams average 8.7 steals per game and have a turnover margin of 2.1.
The Minutemen are 7-15-1 ATS in their last 23 games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win. The Rams are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 Wednesday games.
UMass lost their first 7 games in A-10 play this season but has looked better as of late winning 3 of their last 4 games including a surprising win at home over VCU last week. Fordham has lost 5 of their last 6 games but have been more competitive than expected this season and has posted a solid 11-4 record at home this season. Fordham was able to defeat UMass in OT on the road earlier in the season, however, UMass has been playing much better as of late and I think Minutemen offense will be too much for the Rams defense and UMass at least covers with the points. Take UMass and the points.
