The UTEP Miners look to climb the standings when the Southern Miss Golden Eagles visit Thursday.
With the end of the season not all that far away the Southern Miss Golden Eagles look for a reversal of fortunes in time for the CUSA playoffs. The Golden Eagles are in the midst of a four game slide after falling to visiting Middle Tennessee State 76-54 as a 7.5 point home dog Saturday. USM saw a five lead at the half disappear with the Blue Raiders going on a 49-22 run over the final 20 minutes behind 49% accuracy and a 16-27 performance on threes to outdistance the Golden Eagles 38.6% shooting. Kourtlin Jackson led Southern Miss with 14 points and six pulls with Michael Ramey scoring 12 points but no other player scored more then six points.

The Texas El Paso Miners have flipped a switch the past few weeks and if they continue to play well a top four spot in the CUSA is a real possibility. The Miners have won four in a row capped off by an 89-82 victory at Florida Atlantic as a 2.5 point favorite. UTEP was up 13 after 20 minutes before holding off a late Owls comeback. The Miners sank shots at 51.6% and hit six more free throws while the Owls countered with 46.7% accuracy including a 12-27 effort on threes to rally late. Lee Moore paced the UTEP attack with 17 points and six pulls with Omega Harris and Earvin Morris Jr. tossed in 14 points each. Hooper Vint and Dominic Artis added 13 points apiece while Terry Winn chipped in with eleven points and eight boards.
The over is 7-2 in UTEP last 9 Thursday games and the home team is 16-3 ATS in the last 19 meetings. The Miners seem to be finding their and have something to play for although I hate laying chalk with these guys…
