Missouri State allowed Indiana State to tie the game late in regulation and also allowed the Sycamores to get an early 4-point lead in OT however, the Bears ended the OT period on a 10-2 run to be able to pull out the victory. Missouri State shot 41.7% from the field and 31.6% (6-19) from beyond the arc. The Bears allowed the Sycamores to shoot 45.3% from the field and won the turnover battle by a 14-10 margin. Leading the way for Missouri State was Camyn Boone who had a double-double with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and an assist. The Wichita State Shockers rebounded from their lost to Northern Iowa to defeat the New Mexico State Aggies, 71-41, this past Monday to improve to 19-7 (12-2 MVC) on the season. Wichita State was outstanding defensively in this game and had little trouble putting away the Aggies after gaining a 37-24 halftime lead. Wichita State shot 45.8% from the field and 40.0% (6-15) from beyond the arc in the victory. The Shockers held the Aggies to 38.5% from the field and won the turnover battle by an impressive 20-3 margin. Leading the way for Wichita State was Fred VanVleet who had 12 points, 7 assists, and 2 steals. On the season, the Shockers have been led by Rob Baker (13.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.5 spg), Fred VanVleet (12.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 5.6 apg, 1.9 spg), and Anton Grady (7.1 ppg, 4.6 rpg). Offensively, Wichita State is averaging 72.8 ppg on 43.1% shooting from the field and 33.7% shooting from beyond the arc. The Shockers average 7.6 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.40. Defensively, Wichita State is holding their opponents to an average of 59.6 ppg on 38.8% shooting. The Shockers have a rebound margin of 4.5 and have a turnover margin of 5.7.
The Bears are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win. The Shockers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
Missouri State might only have 11 wins on the season however, the Bears have been decent in MVC play this season posting 7 wins which included an impressive 59-58 win at home against Northern Iowa. Wichita State had their 43-game home winning streak snapped by Northern Iowa last weekend however, but bounced back nicely with a blowout win against a good New Mexico State team using a solid defensive performance that displayed why they are ranked 4th in the country in scoring defense and 2nd in turnover margin. Missouri State has struggled on the road against the top-tier teams in the MVC this season and as the Bears have averaged just 62.3 ppg on the road this season, I think the Shockers and their defense will have no problems with the Bears in this one and cover this large spread at home.
