The Saint Peter’s Peacocks go on the road to face the Manhattan Jaspers for the second time.
The Saint Peter’s Peacocks have their best team in recent memory and were 4th in the MAAC until an 82-75, overtime loss to first place Monmouth on Sunday dropped them to 5th. The Peacocks had the Hawks number until late and played like the favorite instead of a six point home dog. SPC held a slight 45.5%-43% shooting edge but Monmouth secured the win with 16 more free throws. Saint Peter’s received a game high 27 points from Antwon Portley with Trevis Wyche right on his heels with 24 points. Chazz Peterson chipped in with ten points but this was a two man offense.

The Manhattan Jaspers might have taken a step back from previous seasons but they are a team that can rise up and beat anyone in the MAAC and might be dangerous in the conference postseason. The Jaspers had lost back to back contests before picking up a hard fought 63-59 victory at Quinnipiac on Sunday as a one point favorite. The Bobcats trailed by eight at the half but would not go away with both teams sinking shots in the 45% range. Quinnipiac managed eight more shots and three more baskets but Manhattan had eight more free throws and a few more threes. Shane Richards paced Manhattan with 21 points with Rich Williams adding 14 points and five yanks while RaShawn Stores chipped in with nine points.
Saint Peter’s are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 Tuesday games and Manhattan are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games. Saint Peter’s are 1-10 ATS in the last 11 meetings and the favorite is 11-3 ATS in the last 14 meetings. The Jaspers have been the king of this match up ATS so does the trend continue….
