Drake had a 9-point lead at halftime in this one however, allowed the Braves to slowly fightback throughout the 2nd half and allowed Donte Thomas of the Braves to hit the game winning three-pointer with just 23 seconds left in the game. Drake was solid offensively as they shot 53.5% from the field and 55.6% (5-9) from beyond the arc. The Missouri State Bears lost their 2nd consecutive game and dropped to 11-17 (7-9 MVC) on the season after being defeated by the Loyola (CHI) Ramblers, 75-62, this past Sunday. Missouri State was down by just a 32-31 margin at halftime however, went scoreless for about a 6-minute span midway through the 2nd half that allowed Loyola (CHI) to pull away for the win. Missouri State shot 44.2% from the field and lost the turnover battle by a 14-10 margin. The Bears allowed the Ramblers to shoot 42.9% (9-21) from beyond the arc and was outrebounded by Loyola (CHI) by a 32-28 margin. Leading the way for Missouri State was Camyn Boone who had 12 points, 7 rebounds, 1 steal, and a block. On the season, the Bears have been led by Dequon Miller (12.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.8 apg), Chris Kendrix (12.0 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.0 spg), and Camyn Boone (11.7 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.2 apg). Offensively, Missouri State is averaging 67.8 ppg on 41.7% shooting from the field and 30.09% shooting from beyond the arc. The Bears average 5.0 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 0.92. Defensively, Missouri State is allowing their opponents to average 73.5 ppg on 44.9% shooting. The Bears average 6.1 steals per game and have a turnover margin of -0.9.
The Bulldogs are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games following a ATS loss and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 road games. The Bears are 17-5-1 ATS in their last 23 games following a double-digit loss at home however, just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
Drake’s long season continues as the Bulldogs continue to struggle on both sides of the ball as they rank 280th in the country in scoring offense and 203rd in scoring defense. Missouri State struggled in the 2nd half against the usually offensively challenged Loyola (CHI) Ramblers, but still has had a respective season as they’ve picked up seven conference wins including a great home victory against Northern Iowa. Drake is 0-11 on the road this season while averaging just 61.5 ppg away from home and although the Bears can struggle against defending the three-pointer which is really the only weapon Drake has, I think Missouri State will able to generate enough offense off the turnover prone Bulldogs to cover this large spread. Take Missouri State to cover.
