The IUPUI Jaguars dropped to 12-17 (8-6 Summit) on the season after being defeated by the North Dakota State Bison, 63-59, this past Saturday. IUPUI was down by as many as 15 points in the 2nd half and although they were able fight back to be down just 60-59 with 18 seconds left to play, couldn’t complete the comeback victory after North Dakota State made some key FT’s. IUPUI struggled on the offensive end as they shot just 35.9% from the field and 22.2% (4-18) from beyond the arc. The Jaguars allowed the Bison to shoot 42.0% from the field and 16.7% (3-18) from three-point range. Leading the way for IUPUI was Darell Combs who had 21 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. On the season, the Jaguars have been led by Darell Combs (15.2 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.1 spg), Matt O’Leary (10.1 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.9 apg), and Marcellus Barksdale (8.7 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.6 spg). Offensively, IUPUI is averaging 68.1 ppg on 42.2% shooting from the field and 33.3% shooting from beyond the arc. The Jaguars average 5.7 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 0.78. Defensively, IUPUI is allowing their opponents to average 73.8 ppg on 46.1% shooting. The Jaguars have a rebound margin of -1.2 and a turnover margin of -0.7.
The Coyotes are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Jaguars are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 vs. Summit opponents and 0-4 ATS in their last 14 games overall.
South Dakota has been a solid offensive team this season ranking 45th in the country in FG% however, the Coyotes have posted just a 6-6 record on the road while allowing their opponents to average 84.8 ppg. IUPUI might have a losing record but they have a solid 8-6 conference record and have posted a 5-1 record at home in conference play this season. South Dakota didn’t have many answers for IUPUI earlier this season losing by a 77-66 margin, and as I just don’t trust the Coyotes defense on the road, I think the Jaguars will be able to do enough at home to cover this spread. Take IUPUI to cover.
