The Loyola (CHI) Ramblers will travel to The Knapp Center to take on the Drake Bulldogs this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Loyola (CHI) Ramblers had their two game winning streak snapped and dropped to 14-15 (7-10 MVC) on the season after being defeated by the Wichita State Shockers, 76-54, this past Wednesday. As been the story all season for the Ramblers, the offense struggled throughout and couldn’t generate enough in the 2nd half to overcome a 37-27 halftime deficit. Loyola (CHI) shot just 35.3% from the field and 29.4% (5-17) from beyond the arc in the loss. The Ramblers allowed the Shockers to shoot 46.0% from the field and was outrebounded by Wichita State by a 35-30 margin. Leading the way for Loyola (CHI) was Montel James who had a double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks. On the season, the Ramblers have been led by Montel James (12.4 ppg, 6.7 rpg), Milton Doyle (11.2 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 3.0 apg), and Devon Turk (10.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg). Offensviely, Loyola (CHI) is averaging 64.4 ppg on 43.3% shooting from the field and 34.7% shooting from beyond the arc. The Ramblers shot 74.0% from the FT line and have a rebound margin of -1.1. Defensively, Loyola (CHI) is allowing their opponents to average 64.9 ppg on 43.4% shooting.

Drake vs. Loyola (CHI) - 2/27/16 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Drake Bulldogs lost their 7th straight game and dropped to 6-23 (1-16 MVC) on the season after being defeated by the Missouri State Bears, 61-52, this past Wednesday. Drake was able to get up by a 35-29 margin early in the 2nd half but allowed Missouri State to go on a 14-3 run to take control of the game and go on for the victory. Drake shot 36.1% from the field and loss the turnover battle by a 12-8 margin. The Bulldogs held the Bears to 34.5% shooting from the field and 31.6% (6-19) from three-point range but allowed Missouri State to win at the FT line as the Bears had 15 more FT attempts than Drake. Leading the way Drake was Ore Arogundade who had 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and a steal. On the season, the Bulldogs have been led by Reed Timmer (16.9 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.6 apg), Kale Abrahamson (11.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.0 apg), and Graham Woodward (10.7 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 2.9 apg). Offensviely, Drake is averaging 67.5 ppg on 44.9% shooting from the field and 38.9% shooting from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs shot 72.0% from the FT line which ranked 91st in the country but have really struggled on the boards and with turnovers throughout the season. Defensively, Drake is allowing opponents to average 72.5 ppg on 45.8% shooting.

The Ramblers are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Bulldogs are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games following a ATS loss and 8-20-1 ATS in their last 29 games overall.

Loyola (CHI) hasn’t lived up to expectations this season due to an inability to be able to score the basketball however, the Ramblers have played well as of late winning 4 of their last 6 games while holding their last five opponents to just an average of 62.2 ppg. Drake will be happy they don’t have to making any more road trips this season as they fell to 0-12 on the road with their recent loss against Missouri State and has had their own offensive struggles as of late as they’ve averaged just 60.8 ppg over their last five contests. Loyola (CHI) has averaged just 59.5 ppg on the road this season which makes me a little nervous, however, as I believe the Ramblers defensive will be able to generate some offensive off turnovers in this one, I think Loyola (CHI) should have no problem covering this surprisingly small spread. Take Loyola (CHI) to cover.
