The UIC Flames will travel to UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena to take on the UIC Flames this Sunday afternoon in College Basketball action.
The UIC Flames lost their 4th straight game and dropped to 5-23 (3-14 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Green Bay Phoenix, 85-69, this past Friday. UIC was able to hang tight with the Phoenix for the first 30 minutes in this one but allowed the Green Bay to go on a 17-7 run with just under 8 minutes to play and couldn’t make a comeback to get the win. UIC shot 40.0% from the field and 42.9% (6-14) from beyond the arc. The Flames held the Phoenix to 29.0% (9-31) from three-point range and was outrebounded by Green Bay by a 52-34 margin. Leading the way for UIC was Tai Odiase who had a double-double with 13 points, 12 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocks. On the season, the Flames have been led by Dikembe Dixson (19.5 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.0 spg), Tai Odiase (9.9 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 3.3 bpg), and Najeal Young (6.2 ppg, 6.4 rpg). The Milwaukee Panthers had their two game winning streak snapped and dropped to 18-12 (9-8 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Valparaiso Crusaders, 80-76 in OT, this past Friday. Milwaukee was able to get up by a 38-33 margin at halftime but couldn’t hang on to the lead in the 2nd half in the loss. Milwaukee shot 38.7% from the field and 28.6% (8-28) from beyond the arc. The Panthers allowed the Crusaders to shoot 46.4% (8-28) from beyond the arc and won the turnover battle by a 19-10 margin. Leading the way for Milwaukee was Matt Tiby who had 21 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal. On the season, the Panthers have been led by Matt Tiby (15.5 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 2.1 apg), Akeem Springs (13.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.7 apg), and Jordan Johnson (12.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 8.0 apg). Offensively, Milwaukee is averaging 79.1 ppg on 45.7% shooting from the field and 36.2% shooting from beyond the arc. The Panthers average 9.1 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.56. Defensively, Milwaukee is allowing their opponents to average 72.2 ppg on 45.0% shooting. The Panthers have a rebound margin of 2.3 and average 4.4 steals per game.
The Flames are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss. The Panthers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 vs. Horizon League opponents.
Although the final score didn’t look great, UIC still played Green Bay tough in their recent loss and have continued to be a solid play ATS in recent weeks. Milwaukee threw everything they had against the Horizon League favorites, the Valparaiso Crusaders, but came up a bit short and looks like they’ve been in the middle of the pack when it comes to the conference tournament. Although UIC has a 0-12 record on the road this season, the Flames have been playing well as of late and I just don’t see the Panthers being able to cover this many points coming off a tough OT loss. Take UIC and the points.
