The 17th ranked Duke Blue Devils dropped to 21-8 (10-6 ACC) on the season after being defeated by the Pittsburgh Panthers, 76-62, this past Sunday. Pittsburgh was able to get out to a 39-32 halftime lead in this one and used an 11-0 run to put the game away midway through the 2nd half. Duke shot just 37.5% from the field and 34.4% (11-32) from beyond the arc. The Blue Devils allowed the Panthers to shoot 50.0% from the field and was outrebounded by Pittsburgh by a 39-20 margin. Leading the way for Duke was Grayson Allen who had 22 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. On the season, the Blue Devils have been led by Grayson Allen (20.9 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.1 spg), Brandon Ingram (17.0 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.4 bpg), and Luke Kennard (11.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.4 apg). Offensively, Duke is averaging 81.6 ppg on 46.8% shooting from the field and 44.3% shooting from beyond the arc. The Blue Devils have a rebound margin of 1.3 and a turnover margin of 1.7.
The Demon Deacons are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 however, just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record. The Blue Devils are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games.
Wake Forest might only have two wins in ACC play this season but has been competitive as they almost upset Virginia at home and Pittsburgh on the road this season. Duke continues their up and down season having lost 2 of their last 3 games and although the Blue Devils are a great offensive team ranking 16th in the country in scoring offense, continue to have a lack of depth down low with Amie Jefferson still sidelined with an injury. Duke should have no problem putting points on the board in this one but as Wake Forest hasn't be defeated by more than 11 points in their last five losses, I think the Demon Deacons will do enough offensively to stay within this large number. Take Wake Forest to cover.
