The Line: St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers -3 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers look to keep their season alive with a win versus the St. Francis (NY) Terriers in an NEC quarterfinal.
The Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers survived an uneven end to the regular season that featured defeats in seven of nine. The Mountaineers still managed to salvage the -5th seed with a 9-9 record and a 13-18 record overall. MSM has a better defense and lower scoring then most in the conference as they are outscored 69-67 which means they have to control the scoreboard versus the bigger scoring squads. Byron Ashe leads the offense with 14 points with Junior Robinson the only other double digit scorer at 12.6 points although he is just a 38.6% marksman. The key is the production from six others that average between 5-9 points.

The St. Francis (NY) Terriers have been one of the hottest teams in the Northeast over the past month with wins in eight of ten which was good for 4th at 10-8 and 15-16overall. In a conference full of teams that can light up the scoreboard the Terriers 66 points scored is the lowest and the 67 points given up is the best which does have something to do with the speed at which they play the game. Tyreek Jewell paced the offense with 13 points and 5.6 boards with Yunus Hopkinson and Chris Hooper averaging around 12 points apiece. The key will be whether St. Francis (NY) can slow things down and avoid track meets which are not favorable.
The under is 6-2 in Mount St. Mary’s last 8 overall and is 8-3 in St. Francis (NY) last 11 overall. St. Francis (NY) was picking up steam at the end of the year so hopefully they stay on a roll…
