The Furman Paladins take the hardwood with the North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans in a SoCon quarterfinal.
When we look at the 14-17 record of the North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans the first reaction is this wasn’t a good team. However an 10-8 conference mark wasn’t bad and they were hot down the stretch as winners in five straight and it must be noted that Tevon Saddler was not even on the team. The Spartans scored and allowed around 73 points so obviously defense wasn’t a strength although it was to end the season with more then 70 points given up once during their late run. The offense has plenty of talent to do damage with Francis Alonso and Kayel Locke averaging around 13 points with RJ White and Diante Baldwin next in line with around 12 points and a combined 12 rebounds.

The Furman Paladins finished third in the SoCon at 11-7 and played many a close game with a mix of wins and defeats so we could argue their record might be better or worse depending on a bounce or two. Overall the team was 17-14 with 71 points scored on 45.6% shooting while giving up 66 points which were strong numbers in the conference. Furman comes in to the playoffs on a bit of a down note with three consecutive defeats where the defensive end of the floor really struggled. Assuming the defense still has issues the offense will need to carry the load and the options are there beginning with Stephen Croone and his team leading 17 points. Devin Sibley was the only other DD scorer at eleven points but five others supplied between 5-9 points.
UNCG are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 Saturday games and the over is 13-6 in UNCG last 19 overall. Furman are 17-7 ATS in their last 24 vs. Southern and the under is 12-5 in their last 17 neutral site games. No line is out but Furman will be favored…
