The Duquesne Dukes look to enter the A-10 playoffs with a win at the St. Joseph’s Hawks.
The Duquesne Dukes were flying high a few short weeks ago with a 20 win season looking like a real possibility but they have since struggled with eight consecutive defeats after a 78-69 loss to visiting Fordham as a 4.5 point favorite. The Rams took a nine point lead heading to the locker room and never looked back behind 46% shooting including a 13-25 effort on threes and eight more free throws to outdistance the 51% shooting Dukes. Micah Mason gave Duquesne 19 points and eight helpers with Derrick Colter adding 17 points and eight assists. Eric James and LG Gill netted 14 and 13 points respectively with the rest of the team scoring just six.

With VCU winning and the St. Joseph’s Hawks losing on Wednesday the Rams have taken over the top spot in a very tough Atlantic ten. The Hawks fell behind by 13 after 20 minutes at St. Bonaventure and a late rally fell well short as a 3.5 point favorite. St. Joes shot the ball well at 47.6% but their defense was nowhere to be found with the Bonnies scorching the nets at nearly 64% that negated eleven more Hawks shots. St. Joseph’s received 19 points from Isaiah Miles and Shavar Newkirk with Newkirk handing out six assists. Aaron Brown and DeAndre Bembry netted 18 points apiece and combined for nine boards while Lamarr Kimble scored eleven points.
The over is 9-3 in Duquesne last 12 Saturday games and is 11-4 in their last 15 overall while going 11-4 in their last 15 vs. Atlantic 10. The over is 8-1 in St. Joes last 9 overall and is 8-1 in their last 9 vs. Atlantic 10 while the Hawks are 19-7-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall. The road team is 6-1-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings and Duquesne are 4-12-2 ATS in the last 18 meetings. No real feel for this but gun to my head…
