The American Eagles take the hardwood versus the Lehigh Mountain Hawks in the Patriot League semifinals.
The American Eagles found themselves needing to control the scoreboard against the big offense of Boston U in the Patriot League quarterfinals and they did just that in a 69-64 road win as an eight point underdog. The Eagles led throughout with a six point edge at the half holding up. The Terriers were held to less the 44% from the floor while AU countered at 48% with six more free throws. Jalen Rhea led a balanced Eagles attack with 15 points on 5-7 with Delante Jones netting 14 points. Jesse Reed added eleven points and 12 rebounds while Andrija Matic chipped in with eight points.

The Lehigh Mountain Hawks are the hottest team in the Patriot and haven’t lost in over a month. They still had trouble downing pesky Navy in a 65-62 quarterfinal victory as a 6.5 point favorite. This looked like a rout heading in to the locker room with Lehigh up 12 before the Midshipmen saw a spirited rally fall a basket short. The Mountain Hawks had a 38%-34.5% shooting edge with four more free throws being the only difference. Tim Kempton saved the Lehigh offense with a game high 22 points and 17 rebounds on 9-16 with Kyle Leufroy netting 17 points on the strength of a 9-10 effort at the line. Kahron Ross added nine points and six assists while Jesse Chuku chipping in with eight points.
The under is 12-5 in American last 17 overall and is 9-4 in their last 13 road games. The over is 6-2 in Lehigh last 8 overall and Lehigh are 25-11 ATS in their last 36 games overall. The numbers say Lehigh wins huge but I hesitate to lay them if American can control the pace…
