The Line: Monmouth Hawks -9 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

The Fairfield Stags take the hardwood in a MAAC semifinal with the Monmouth Hawks.

The Fairfield Stags have quietly closed the season strong and carried that momentum in to the postseason. The Stags advanced to the MAAC semifinals on the strength of a 64-55 victory versus Saint Peter’s as a 1.5 point underdog on Saturday. FF took an eight point lead in to the half and traded baskets the rest of the way with both teams hitting shots in the 41% range but with the Stags sinking five more threes and a few more free throws. Fairfield received a game high 20 points on 6-9 shooting from Marcus Gilbert with Tyler Nelson adding 15 points and five yanks on 6-14. Matija Milin netted ten points and hauled in nine rebounds while Jonathan Kasibabu and Kevin Degnan scored seven each.

Monmouth Hawks vs. Fairfield Stags - 3/6/16 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Monmouth Hawks have lost once in over a month on their way to capturing the MAAC regular season crown. The Hawks continued their run with a 59-48 victory over Rider to punch their ticket to the conference semis. A 32-16 first half was enough to put this one away as the Broncs couldn’t come back in the final 20 minutes. The nine point favorites were outshot 35%-32% but forced 21 turnovers and mustered eleven more looks with an 18-10 edge at the stripe. Micah Seaborn led the attack with 14 points while Austin Tilghman and Chris Brady netted 12 points apiece with Brady hauling in nine rebounds and was the Hawks best shooter at 6-9.

The over is 7-1 in Fairfield last 8 Sunday games while the under is 16-5 in their last 21 neutral site games. The under is 16-4-1 in Monmouth last 21 neutral site games and  is 10-4 in their last 14 overall while going  7-3 in their last 10 Sunday games. Neither team shot the ball well in the semis so I don’t know what to expect. I’ll take the points and sit this one out…
