The Connecticut Huskies take the floor with the Cincinnati Bearcats in the AAC quarters.
When I look at the Connecticut Huskies I think that this hasn’t been a typical season but at the end of the day the team is 21-10 and that isn’t too shabby and neither is an 11-7 mark in the top heavy AAC. If you are a fan of defense you will like the Huskies whose number ten ‘D’ allows 62 points on 38% shooting while an efficient offense averages 72 points on 46% marksmanship. These are championship ingredients although UConn wasn’t even close to the top of the conference. If the Huskies are going to advance the defense will have to be as tenacious as ever and their balanced attack must continue to produce. With Shonn Miller, Rodney Purvis, Sterling Gibbs and Daniel Hamilton averaging between 11.6-12.6 points opposing defenses can’t key on one player.

The Cincinnati Bearcats mirror their counterparts with great defense that was key to finishing 4th in the conference with a 12-6 mark and an impressive 22-9 overall record. The Bearcats are a decent scoring team at 72 points on 43% but few can match their suffocating defense. Cinci allowed mere 61.5 points on a mere 38.8% from the field and those numbers were 7th and 11th nationally. Troy Caupain leads the offense with just over 12 points but at 37.6% shooting he needs plenty of shots. Octavius Ellis, Farad Cobb and Gary Clark average around 10-10.6 points with Clark providing muscle on the glass with almost nine rebounds so the opposition has plenty of worries with this offense.
UConn are 7-20-1 ATS in their last 28 Friday games and the under is 5-2-1 in their last 8 neutral site games while going 11-5 in their last 16 overall. The under is 26-10 in Cincinnati last 36 neutral site games and is 74-32-1 in their last 107 overall. The under is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings and UConn are 12-5 ATS in the last 17 meetings. I don’t expect to see much of a spread here in what should be a very tight one so please check back when a line is released…
