The Line: Providence Friars -1 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The USC Trojans take the hardwood with the Providence Friars in an NCAA first round tilt.
The Providence Friars were a solid top 25 squad but eventually faltered and fell from the rankings before seemingly righting the ship with four straight victories before losing to Villanova in the Big East semifinals. The number four seed in the conference outscored opponents 74-69.7 which were average defensively and just okay offensively so getting a boost at both ends of the floor are needed if the Friars expect success in the Big Dance. Forward Ben Bentil was one of the top scorers in the Big East at 21 points and 7.8 rebounds while Kris Dunn added 16 points, 5.5 boards and a team high 6.4 assists. Providence needs both to play well to advance with others hopefully helping out.

The USC Trojans were 6th in a loaded PAC 12 which produced seven NCAA invitations altogether. The Trojans defeated UCLA in the quarterfinals before losing to a very good Utah in the semis. In season’s past this team really struggled to compete on the scoreboard but that was far from the case this year with 80.8 points scored on 45.7% for the number 20 offense in the nation while giving up almost 75 points on 41.8% which was #252 overall. The Trojans have plenty of options at the offensive end with five double digit scorers. Jordan McLaughlin averaged over 13 points and was second on the team in assists while Nikola Jovanovic added around 12 points and a team high seven rebounds.
Providence are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 Thursday games and the under is 7-1 in their last 8 neutral site games. USC are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall. I think Providence has enough firepower at both ends of the floor to win this…
