The Big Dance is always exciting when the underdog puts up a fight and even better when they win and the Yale Bulldogs pulled off the first surprise with a 79-75 win over the Baylor Bears. The Bulldogs held off a late Bears charge with solid free throw shooting. Yale held the Bears to 44% from the floor while countering at 53% and 13 more free throws to negate the Bears 19 more shots. Makai Mason saved the Bulldogs with a game high 31 points and six pulls on 9-18 with Justin Sears tossing in 18 points on 7-10. Brandon Sherrod netted ten points while Sam Downey chipped in with eight points and seven boards.
Yale pulled off the first real upset of the tournament but I think Duke will prove to be a tougher out then Baylor although the spread is about the same. I don’t think we see another upset although I’d love to see it but I don’t think I can ignore the points here even though this might be a stretch...
