The Louisiana Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns visit the Furman Paladins in round two of the CIT.

The Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns bounced back from losing in the Sun Belt playoffs with a convincing 96-72 rout of visiting Texas A&M CC as an 8.5 point favorite. The Ragin’ Cajuns held a nine point edge entering the locker room and kept their foot on the gas pedal until the final buzzer. The Islanders were limited to 40% from the floor with ULL burning the nets at 52% which added up to ten more field goals. UL Lafayette received a game high 28 points from Kasey Shepherd on 10-16 shooting with Shawn Long and Bryce Washington scoring 17 points apiece and totaling ten and six rebounds respectively. Steven Wronkoski and Jay Wright followed with eleven points each while Jonathan Stove chipped in with eight points and six pulls.

Furman Paladins vs. Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns - 3/19/16 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The SoCon had many teams that could beat anybody on any given day and the Furman Paladins were one of the better squads at doing just that. The Paladins did not set the world on fire over the last few weeks of the regular season so it was no surprise they were booted from the conference playoffs. However the Paladins regrouped enough to defeat Louisiana-Monroe 58-57 in round one of the CIT on a last second shot. Furman held a slight 41.8%-39.6% shooting edge behind a team high 15 point, five yank performance from Devin Shipley with Daniel Fowler and Kris Acox tossing in eleven points apiece with Acox hauling in nine rebounds. Stephen Croone chipped in with eight but  the team didn’t have much punch at the offensive end.

The over is 7-2 in Furman last 9 overall and the Paladins are 20-7 ATS in their last 27 home games. I am a Furman fan and I think they might be a bit overmatched here and I wonder how they got the home game. I’ll take them and hope they can squeeze out another win although I’m worried…
