The Villanova Wildcats tangle with the Oklahoma Sooners in the Final Four on Saturday.
The mighty Kansas Jayhawks were the favorite of many to win the National Championship but the Villanova Wildcats ended those dreams with a 64-59 victory in their Elite Eight match up. The Wildcats were up seven at the break and made it stand up as a two point underdog with their defense forcing 16 turnovers versus the 46% shooting Jayhawks. Villanova hit shots at 40% and were a paltry 4-18 from distance but sparkled at the line with an 18-19 effort. Kris Jenkins, Josh Hart and Ryan Arcidiacono led the Wildcats offense with 13 points apiece with Daniel Ochefu adding ten points and a team high eight rebounds. Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges combined for 13 points but it was force turnovers and great foul shooting that won this and saved a poor shooting offense.

The Oklahoma Sooners figured to have their hands full with the powerhouse Oregon Ducks but when the final buzzer sounded it was the Ducks who were overwhelmed. The Sooners walked away with an 80-68 victory that was one sided ten minutes in and could have been worse if OU didn’t slow their offense down in the second half. The Sooners took an 18 point lead in to the locker room and went in to cruise control the rest of the way behind 46.6% shooting and a stifling defense that held the potent Ducks offense to under 39%. Probable Player of the Year Buddy Hield poured in 37 points on 13-20 including eight bombs with Jordan Woodard following with 13 points. Isaiah Cousins added eleven points, five yanks and seven assists but this was the Buddy Hield show.
The under is 8-1 in Villanova last 9 vs. Big 12 and the over is 10-3 in their last 13 overall. The under is 12-2 in Oklahoma last 14 overall and Oklahoma are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games overall while the Sooners are 4-13 ATS in their last 17 Saturday games. The Sooners destroyed Nova in December but I don’t think that matters. Hield will score 30+ points but the Wildcats have more scoring punch than we saw versus Kansas…
