The Line: USC Trojans -12 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Montana Grizzlies will travel to play the USC Trojans in a non-conference college basketball game on Friday.
The USC Trojans finished last season with a record of 21-13 (9-9) and ended up losing in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Providence. USC finished tied for 6th in the PAC-12 standings last season. Jordan McLaughlin (13.4 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and 4.7 assists per game) was the best player for USC last season and will be returning for this season. Bennie Boatwright and Elijah Stewart were also meaningful players for the Trojans in 2015-2016 and will be back this season. Nikola Jovanovic and Julian Jacobs were the 2nd and 3rd leading scorers for USC last year, but will not be coming back for this season. USC will be dependent on some new players that have not played a lot in order to have a successful season.
USA TODAY Sports
The Montana Grizzlies finished last season with a record of 21-12 (14-4) and ended up losing to Nevada in the first round of the CBI Tournament. Montana finished 2nd in the Big Sky standings last season. Montana lost their best player from last season, Martin Breunig, who averaged 18.9 points per game, 9 rebounds per game, and 1.5 assists per game. Montana does return some talent, as their 2 through 6th leading scorers from last season will be back. All of those players were able to average at least 5 points per game and 2 rebounds per game. Montana should have plenty of depth this season and should once again be a major player in the Big Sky race.
Montana is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 non-conference games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 road games. The over is 5-2 in Montana’s last 7 road games. USC is 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 non-conference games and 0-4-2 ATS in their last 6 games against the Big Sky. The under is 7-0 in USC’s last 7 games against the Big Sky.
Montana has some talent on this team and won’t be an easy victory for a young USC team. USC will be at home and will be returning their best player, but I like Montana to keep this game close on the road.
