The Line: James Madison Dukes -7 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Rice Owls and James Madison Dukes meet Sunday in a college basketball game at the Convocation Center.
The Rice Owls hope a third year under coach Mike Rhoades can be the turning point after a 24-40 record. Marcus Evans returns after averaging 21.4 points and four rebounds and Egor Koulechov averaged 16.7 points and 1.4 assists. Marquez Letcher-Ellis was a third double-digit scorer and Connor Cashaw grabbed 4.3 rebounds per game. The Rice Owls have a chance to make a splash in the C-USA with their top-five scorers returning, which includes Evans who is one of the more underappreciated players in CBB. Rice is still extremely young with just four upperclassmen, but the Owls will turn some heads this season. The Rice Owls have lost six of their last eight road games.

The Owls are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 road games and 7-19-1 ATS in their last 27 games overall. The Dukes are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 vs. Conference USA and 13-27-1 ATS in their last 41 home games. The under is 5-0 in Dukes last 5 overall and the over is 24-7-1 in Owls last 32 overall.
James Madison struggled big time offensively in its first game, so I'm not sure how you can lay this type of number here. Also, the Rice Owls return most of last years squad and have argaubly the best player on the court in Evans. I like the direction this Rice Owls squad is going and really like the value of the points here.
