The Missouri Tigers and #10 Xavier Musketeers clash in Thursday afternoon college basketball action.
The Xavier Musketeers always seem to be a battle tested tournament team and we’ll see if that proves to be true once again. So far, so good as the Musketeers are 2-0 after an 86-53 win versus Buffalo as a 15 point favorite. This was never in doubt as the X-Men jumped to a 19 point lead after 20 minutes and coasted the rest of the way. Xavier had four double digit scorers, forced 21 turnovers and held a +12 edge on the glass as well as outshooting the Bulls 49%-30.6%. JP Macura paced the Musketeers with 18 points with Edmond Sumner and Trevon Bluiett added 13 points apiece while Sumner grabbed seven boards. Quentin Goodin gave Xavier eleven points while RaShid Gaston chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds.

The Missouri Tigers were not give a ton of ink in the SEC which was generally reserved for Kentucky and Florida so we’ll just have to see what talent they put on the floor. The Tigers were obviously heads and shoulders above Alabama A&M in their season opening 99-44 victory where the offense scored at will for 40 minutes. The Bulldogs were held to under 27% from the floor including 1-13 from beyond the arc while Missouri connected at 62.5% and sank ten more free throws. The Tigers attack featured a game high 23 points from Frankie Hughes on 9-14 from the floor with Russell Woods and Willie Jackson tossing in 12 and 11 points while six players contributed between 7-9 points in an obvious mismatch.
Xavier are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 vs. Southeastern and the over is 7-3 in Xavier last 10 overall while Xavier are 33-16-4 ATS in their last 53 Thursday games. Missouri are 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall and the over is 16-5 in Missouri last 21 Thursday games.
In my eyes, Xavier is a top ten squad and if they play a 40 minute game I like them to put up some big numbers…
