The Eastern Illinois Panthers and Saint Louis Billikens meet in a college basketball bout on Thursday night.
The Eastern Illinois Panthers returned four of their top five scorers so it’s assumed they won’t be a pushover. However, the Panthers didn’t have enough firepower in in a 70-67 defeat at Troy as a seven point dog that dropped them to 1-1. A poor first half cost the Panthers although the Trojans slight 39%-37% shooting edge says this game was a toss up. The difference was EIU went 6-26 from distance and were outscored by eight at the charity stripe. Montell Goodwin led Eastern Illinois with 18 points with Casey Teson next in line with 17 points and five helpers. Cornell Johnston gave the Panthers eleven points while Patrick Muldoon and Ray Crossland combined for 15 points.

The Saint Louis Billikens have not been give a lot of press in the Atlantic Ten so they have to earn a name for themselves. The Billikens rebounded from a season opening loss to down Southern Utah 88-76 on Monday to even their record at 1-1 as a 9.5 point favorite. The Billikens defense was superb as they held the Thunderbirds to less then 30% while countering with 46% marksmanship which was a difference of six field goals despite SUU firing off ten more shots. Reggie Agbeko led four Billikens in double figures with 18 points and 14 rebounds on 5-5 shooting with Davell Roby adding 17 points. Elliott Welmer and Jermaine Bishop netted 15 and 13 points respectively to give SLU plenty of scoring.
The over is 16-5 in Eastern Illinois last 21 Thursday games and the over is 6-2 in Eastern Illinois last 8 overall. The under is 10-1-1 in St. Louis last 12 vs. Ohio Valley and St. Louis are 10-26-1 ATS in their last 37 home games while St. Louis are 21-46-1 ATS in their last 68 games overall.
