The Pittsburgh Panthers and Marquette Golden Eagles meet Friday in college basketball action at Madison Square Garden.
The Pittsburgh Panthers look for a bounce back performance after losing to the SMU Mustangs, 67-76. In the loss, Pittsburgh allowed 47.6 percent shooting and forced just seven turnovers. The good news for Pitt is that they’re getting great play from their seniors, as Jamel Artis had 20 points and four rebounds while Michael Young had 22 points and three assists. The downside for Pittsburgh is those two players had very little help, which certainly wasn't the case when the Panthers combined for 192 points in their first two games. Pittsburgh certainly has the talent to be better than what it’s been the last couple of years, but the lack of consistency has to be frustrating the Panthers fanbase. The Pittsburgh Panthers have lost three straight neutral site games.

The Marquette Golden Eagles look for a rebound themselves after losing to the Michigan Wolverines, 61-79. In the loss, Marquette allowed 50 percent shooting and gave up 50 first half points. As for the bright spot, Luke Fischer had 19 points and five rebounds while Haanif Cheatham had 12 points and four assists. Jajuan Johnson was the third Marquette starter to score double-digit points. Marquette has had a tougher than usual schedule to start the season and has actually held its own given the expectations of the season. Marquette is more experienced than past years with just two freshmen on the team, so this could be a breakout year for the Golden Eagles. The Marquette Golden Eagles have split their last four neutral site games.
The Panthers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 neutral site games and 19-42-1 ATS in their last 62 games overall. The Golden Eagles are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 Friday games and 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The underdog is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings and the over is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings.
I like Pittsburgh here due to its 1-2 punch in Artis and Young. I'm not sure Marquette is consistent or deep enough to contain those two guys and keep up with their offensive output. I also look for Pittsburgh to get better play from its roll players. This is a game Pitt should be able to win.
