The CSU Northridge Matadors look to knock off the visiting Northern Illinois Huskies in college basketball on Saturday.
The Northern Illinois Huskies have looked pretty good in building a 3-0 record but can they continue their hot start? NIU opened up on Idaho in a 63-49 victory that was tied heading to the locker room. Although the Huskies didn’t burn the nets on 39% marksmanship the defense limited the Vandals to less then 32% and turned 31 Idaho fouls in to a decisive 25-9 advantage at the charity stripe. A trio of double digit scorers led the Huskies with Laytwan Porter scoring 12 while Marin Maric and Levi Bradley combined for 21 points. Altogether, 12 players received playing time and eleven reached the scoring column.

The CSU Northridge Matadors have not looked good in consecutive defeats to UCLA and Stanford so they need something positive to go their way. The Matadors fell behind by 13 points at the Cardinal and never mounted any kind of comeback with Stanford sinking half their looks. Northern Illinois sank shots at 39% but with the hot shooting Cardinal logging eleven more looks at the basket the Huskies were looking at 12 fewer field goals. Kendall Smith was high scorer for the Huskies with 17 points and six pulls on 4-10 from the floor with Jerron Wilbut tossing in ten while Jason Richardson, Tavrion Dawson and Dylan Johns each scoring nine points.
Northern Illinois are 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games and the under is 27-10 in Northern Illinois last 37 non-conference games.
This game looks dead even but this is the first road game for Northern Illinois and I’m thinking Northridge has a chance…
