The Bowling Green Falcons look to pick up their first win of the season when they host the Murray State Racers on Monday night.
The Murray State Racers dropped to 2-2 following an 85-74 defeat at the hands of the UMKC Kangaroos. Jonathan Stark led the Racers as one of 3 players with double figures in the scoring column after flirting with a triple-double following his 17-point, 9 assist and 7 rebound performance on 6 of 20 shooting including a pair of 3s on 9 attempts. Terrell Miller Jr. only needed half the attempts that Stark did to put in 14 points of his own on the night including a pair of 3s while Bryce Jones connected on just 3 of 12 attempts from the floor, including 1 make on 3 attempts from downtown. Jones made up for it by potting all 6 of his free throw attempts on the night. Damarcus Croaker, Gilbert Thomas Jr., and Jachai Taylor each logged 8 points on the night for Murray State and after that, no other Racer had more than 3 points in the game. As a team, Murray State is putting up 80.2 points on 45.2% shooting from the field, 35% from 3-point range and 70.8% from the foul line.

The Bowling Green Falcons lost their 4th straight to start the season after losing to the Green Bay Phoenix by a final score of 77-61. BGSU trailed by just 1 at halftime before letting the game slip away as the second half wore on before losing by 16. Antwon Lillard and Zack Denny were the only Falcons to hit double digits on the night, as Lillard put in 15 points on 7 of 9 from the floor, including 1 of 3 from downtown, however he did miss his only 2 foul line attempts on the night. Denny on the other hand, connected on just 4 of his 10 attempts including a pair of makes from downtown while making both of his free throws to finish with 12 points on the night. Wes Alcegaire came 1 point shy of joining the club as he finished with 9 points on 4 makes of a team-high 11 attempts on the night while making just 1 of his 6 tries from behind the arc. Free throw shooting proved to be a concern for Bowling Green, as Alcegaire missed all 3 of his free throw attempts while the starting lineup made just 6 of 15 from the charity stripe while the team as a whole made just 9 of 19 total free throws on the night. Demajeo Wiggins may not have been as sharp shooting as he would’ve liked to have been on Sunday, however he did pull down a game-high 10 rebounds in the loss. As a team, Bowling Green is scoring 70.3 points per game on 36.7% from the field. They are also making 34.5% from beyond the arc and just 67.2% from the charity stripe.
Murray State is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 road games while the under is 9-4 in their last 13 Monday games. Bowling Green is 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 vs. the OVC and 4-13 ATS in their last 17 games overall while the over is 4-1-1 in their last 6 home games.
Both of these team have had documented struggles against the number and despite Bowling Green’s success against the spread vs. the Ohio Valley Conference, I can’t back the Falcons until I see some signs of change for them. Murray State has been competitive in each of their losses and with both teams having played on Monday I think the Racers blow by the Falcons here.
Murray State and the low line is the play here.
