We’ve got a fun college basketball matchup coming on Monday from Amalie Arena in Tampa between the Belmont Bruins and the Florida Gators.
Belmont is entering play here with a 1-1 record on the season. The Bruins put up an 80-66 loss to Vanderbilt in their opener, then bounced back with a solid 90-69 win over Western Kentucky this past weekend. In that one, Belmont was up just 42-39 at the half but closed with a 48-30 second that sealed the win.

On the year so far, Evan Bradds is leading the Bruins with 22.5 PPG and 11.0 RPG, and Amanze Egekeze is second with 12.5 PPG and 3.5 RPG. Austin Luke and Nick Smith are also averaging in double figures for Belmont; Luke has 10.5 PPG with 7.5 APG and Smith holds 10.0 PPG.
Over on the Florida side, they’re coming into this game with a clean 3-0 record thus far. The Gators took their opener 80-59 against FGCU, then beat Mercer 76-54 and St. Bonaventure 73-66. Florida eked that one out by outscoring St. Bonaventure 38-32 in the first half and 35-34 in the second.
Devin Robinson is the high man in scoring for Florida so far, with 13.3 PPG and 7.3 RPG, while Canyon Barry isn’t too far back with 12.0 PPG and 5.0 RPG. KeVaughn Allen and Justin Leon are also averaging in double figures for the Gators with Allen holding 11.7 PPG and Leon sitting on 10.3 PPG.
Belmont is 5-1 ATS in their last six neutral-site games, and 11-5-1 ATS in their last 17 games following an ATS win. Belmont is also 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up win, and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Meanwhile, Florida is 4-1-1 ATS in their last six against Ohio Valley and 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 neutral-site games. Florida is also 10-26-2 ATS in their last 38 games following a straight-up win, and the over is 9-1 in the Gators’ last 10 Monday games.
Florida hasn’t had much of a stout challenge yet this year, but does get credit for holding off a pesky St. Bonaventure team. I like the Gators to get a nice hometown welcome here and ride that energy toward a cover against a fairly uninspiring Belmont squad, though. I’ll take Florida.
