Geno Thorpe led all scorers with 18 points, five pulls and five assists on 7-16 with South Florida getting 13 points and five yanks from Tulio Da Silva while Malik Fitts and Troy Holston combining for 21 points with Fitts snagging another five boards.

The Florida Atlantic Owls began the season at 0-3 before getting in the win column against subdivision Edward Waters in a lopsided 98-64 decision. The Tigers hung around in the first half but FAU dominated the final 20 minutes 48-23 with strong play at both ends of the floor while finishing with a 52%-34% shooting edge. Adonis Filer paced the Florida Atlantic attack with 17 points and five yanks with Jailyn Ingram and Nick Rutherford netting 16 points apiece with the latter snagging eight boards and handing out six assists. Frank Booker gave the Owls 15 points followed by a 12 effort from Gerdarius Troutman with 12.
