Coming up Thursday in college basketball action on Thanksgiving, we’ve got a great-looking Battle 4 Atlantis game between the Wichita State Shockers and the Louisville Cardinals.
Louisville is coming into this game with a clean 4-0 record on the year. The Cardinals bagged a season-opening win against Evansville 78-47 to start out the season, then took care of William & Mary 91-58. Louisville took care of Long Beach St. 88-56 last Thursday, and followed that up with a 68-62 overtime win over Old Dominion, which brings us to Thursday’s matchup.

So far this season, Jaylen Johnson is Louisville’s top scoring threat with 13.0 PPG and 11.5 RPG, while Donovan Mitchell is the only other player averaging in double figures with 11.8 PPG and 5.8 RPG. Quentin Snider and Deng Adel are also playing well for the Cardinals, with each player averaging 9.5 PPG so far.
As for Wichita State, they’re entering play on Thursday with a 5-0 record. The Shockers beat up South Carolina State 85-39, Long Beach St. 92-55 and Tulsa 80-53 to start out their season, then took care of Maryland Eastern Shore 116-79 on Sunday. Wichita State finished off their current run with an impressive 82-47 win over LSU on Thursday.
The Shockers have three players averaging in double figures so far: Markis McDuffie leads the way on 12.2 PPG and 5.2 RPG, while Landry Shamet and Darral Williams Jr. are each averaging 10.4 PPG. Shamet also sits on 2.4 RPG and 2.0 APG, while Willis holds 5.0 RPG currently.
Louisville is 27-12 ATS in their last 39 neutral-site games, and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 non-conference games. Louisville is also 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 games following a straight-up win, and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games following an ATS loss.
As for Wichita State, they’re 7-1 ATS in their last eight non-conference games, and 21-7 ATS in their last 28 games overall. Wichita State is also 45-17-2 ATS in their last 64 games following an ATS win, and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 neutral-site games.
This should be a great game, as both Louisville and Wichita State are pretty evenly-matched. Neither team has seen much of a challenge thus far, either, so it should be interesting to see how they respond on both sides. Both teams are pretty deep when it comes to scoring, but I feel like Wichita State is a little more well-rounded the further you get down the roster. I’ll take the Shockers to cover here, provided the line isn’t too bad.
