The Oregon State Beavers lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 2-3 on the season after being defeated by the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 75-64, this past Tuesday. Oregon State struggled offensively in the 1st half and couldn’t fight back after being down by a 37-22 margin at halftime. Oregon allowed Tulsa to shoot 40.0% (10-25) from beyond the arc and was outrebounded by the Golden Hurricane by a 38-23 margin. Leading the way for the Beavers was Tres Tinkle who had 19 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. On the season, Oregon State is averaging just 66.4 ppg on 45.3% shooting from the field. The Beavers average 3.8 three-pointers per game on 26.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Oregon State has been led by Tres Tinkle (18.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.4 spg), Drew Eubanks (12.4 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 3.0 bpg), Jaquori McLaughlin (10.8 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.6 apg), and Stephen Thompson Jr. (8.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg). Defensively, Oregon State is allowing their opponents to average 68.6 ppg on 36.8% shooting. The Beavers have really struggled with turnovers on the young season as they currently have a turnover margin of -5.4.
The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games however, just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games. The Beavers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs Mountain West opponents and 0-5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
Oregon State has had trouble finding offense early on in the season and although Gill Stadium is usually a very tough place to play for opponents, the Beavers have already suffered a shocking loss at home against the Lamar Cardinals. Fresno State should be one of the better teams in the Mountain West this season and as the Bulldogs should be able to force a ton of turnovers against the turnover-prone Beavers, I’m taking Fresno State and the points in this one.
