The Colorado Buffaloes improved to 4-1 on the season after defeating the 22nd ranked Texas Longhorns, 68-54, this past Tuesday in the 3rd place game of the Legends Classic. Colorado used a strong 1st half to take a 33-24 lead at halftime and used a 14-3 run over the last 5 minutes of the game to secure the victory. Colorado was outstanding on the defensive end as they held the Longhorns to just 36.8% shooting from the field and 17.6% (3-17) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Buffaloes was George King who had a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. On the season, Colorado is averaging 79.4 ppg on 43.3% shooting from the field. The Buffaloes are averaging 7.2 three-pointers per game on 37.5% shooting. Offensively, Colorado has been led by Derrick White (14.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 4.2 apg), Xavier Johnson (12.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.2 apg), George King (11.6 ppg, 8.4 rpg), and Josh Fortune (10.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.6 apg). Defensively, Colorado is holding their opponents to average 64.2 ppg on 36.0% shooting from the field.
The Terriers are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 Sunday games however, just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Buffaloes are 21-6 ATS in their last 27 Sunday games and 16-6 ATS in their last 21 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
Wofford has been one of the better three-point shooting teams in the country however, the Terriers continue to struggle on the defensive end and have had trouble creating turnovers. Colorado had a nice bounce back win against Texas after losing a tight match to Notre Dame and must be thrilled with the production they’ve gotten from Derrick White. Playing at the Coors Events Center is always a challenge for opposing teams and as I think Colorado has the depth and athletic ability to cause the Terriers trouble on both ends, I’m taking the Buffaloes to cover this large home spread. Take Colorado to cover.
