The Portland State Vikings travel to the Pepperdine Wave for college basketball action.
At 1-3, the Portland State Vikings can’t afford too many more defeats but they need help at both ends of the floor. That was evident in a 78-62 defeat at Loyola Marymount Friday with a 46-29 second half run by the Lions putting the game in the win column. The Vikings defense was torched for 57% shooting while countering with 37.7% accuracy which was a decisive eight field goals. Braxton Tucker was Portland State’s best scoring option with 15 points and six pulls on 7-18 from the floor while 12 points and five assists coming from Zach Gengler adding 12 points and five assists followed by Traylin Franklin and Bryce Canda combined for 18 points with Canda snagging six rebounds.

The Pepperdine Waves are off to a solid 4-2 start to the season but Wednesday’s 89-63 loss to St. Bonaventure wasn’t their best effort as neither end of the floor was able to come up big. Lamond Murray Jr. paced the Waves attack with 24 points and five yanks on 6-17 including five yanks while Jeremy Major and Craig LeCesne netting ten points apiece followed by Nate Gehring chipping with eight points on 4-4 accuracy.
