The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs head out west to take on the Cal Golden Bears on Wednesday night.
The Louisiana Tech look to build on a 2-game win streak that brought the Bulldogs to 3-2 after a 74-53 with over Maryland-Eastern Shore. Tech’s leading scorer, Erik McCree put up 18 points and 9 rebounds in the win, however it was Jacobi Boykins that led the Bulldogs with 26 points on 8 of 11 from the floor with 6 threes and a perfect 4 for 4 from the foul line. Derric Jean racked up his 1st double-double of the season by dishing out 11 assists to go along with his 14 points. McCree leads the Bulldogs with 14.4 points per game and 6.2 rebounds while Jean is the team’s top passer, averaging 4.8 helpers per game. As a team, Louisiana Tech is scoring 74 points per game on 45.4% from the field, 28.3% from behind the arc and 62.5% from the foul line.

The California Golden Bears will try to maintain their strong start to the season that saw the Bears improve to 4-1 with a 67-55 win over Southeastern Louisiana. Cal’s leading scorer, Charlie Moore, did just that, by connecting on 7 of his 13 attempts, including 4 threes and a perfect 4 for 4 from the foul line for a game-high 22 points. Ivan Rabb followed in 2nd by posting his 3rd straight double-double to start the year by putting up 17 points to go along with his 10 boards. Grant Mullins recorded 13 points and Kingsley Okoroh notched 1- points to go along with his 9 rebounds. Charlie Moore leads the team with 20.2 points and 2.6 assists per game while Ivan Rabb is averaging a double-double per game, posting 16 points per game to go along with his team-high average of 10.3 rebounds per game. As a team, Cal is scoring 72 points per game on 41.1% from the floor, 36% from behind the arc and 69% from the free throw line.
Louisiana Tech is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 21-8 in their last 29 road games. California is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win.
Louisiana Tech has hung in tough against some decent competition this year, but going from Maryland-Eastern Shore out west to face Cal won’t be easy and in fact may be too much for the Bulldogs to handle. Cal hasn’t done well against the spread this year, however I think this is where their luck turns as they have the deeper squad and should have no problem disposing of Louisiana Tech.
Give me Cal and lay the points.
