At 0-6 the James Madison Dukes don’t look like the team they were a year ago as rebuilding seems to best describe this team. The Dukes had their best opportunity of getting their first win but instead came up short in an 80-77, overtime loss at George Mason. The JMU defense allowed 38% while sinking half their looks for five more buckets with 14 more makes at the charity stripe being decisive. Jackson Kent led James Madison with 19 points and six assists with Shakir Brown adding 18 points and six boards while five players contributed between 6-9 points so there was plenty of offense available.

The Charlotte 49ers had lost back to back contests so they obviously wanted to get back in the win column and did in an 80-72 victory as an eight point home favorite. The 49ers limited Appalachian State to 42.6% but Charlotte burned the nets at over 57% with a few more baskets and free throws being enough to secure the victory. Jon Davis led a balanced 49ers attack with 19 points on 5-7 with Anthony Vanhook tossing in 14 points on 6-9 while Najee Garvin, Andrien White and Braxton Ogbueze each scored ten points with White and Garvin posting six boards apiece.
