The Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners travel to the West Coast to oppose the Cal Poly Mustangs in college basketball.
The Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners are not supposed to make a lot of noise in the CUSA but I’m not going to make any claim this early in the season. The Roadrunners improved to 2-4 after a 63-48 win against visiting Texas State on Friday as a five point underdog. UTSA took a ten point lead in to the locker room and never allowed the Bobcats to rally by holding them to 30% shooting including 4-27 on threes. The Roadrunners hit at 37% but hit their threes and sank eleven more free throws. UTSA received a contest best 22 points from Jeff Beverly on 5-8 with Byron Frohnen chipped in with nine points and hauled in ten rebounds.

The Cal Poly Mustangs have given us a few surprises the past few years and according to the experts a surprise is needed if the postseason is to be had. The Mustangs have dropped back to back contests to fall to 3-4 and they don’t want this turning in to a full blown slump. CP comes off of a 72-66 defeat at the hands of Elon as a six point underdog on Saturday. The Phoenix held a 51%-44.8% edge in accuracy but Cal Poly had 13 more looks at the basket and came up short at the foul line 18-4 which was the deciding factor. Victor Joseph kept the Mustangs alive with 23 points on 9-16 with Ryan Shipley tossing in 14 while Jaylen Shead added nine points, eight boards and seven assists.
The over is 9-2 in UTSA last 11 Thursday games. Cal Poly are 3-14 ATS in their last 17 home games and Cal Poly are 3-13 ATS in their last 16 Thursday games while Cal Poly are 8-22 ATS in their last 30 games overall.
My problem here is the Roadrunners aren’t getting any respect and I’m not sure whether that is right or wrong…
